Current version of Ford Edge was released on the market back in 2014. It has become obvious that new updated model is necessary to be released in order to stay competitive on the market. Production of future 2019 Ford Edge will be based on old CD4 modular platform developed by Ford. However, it could happen that Ford Edge 2019 gets new suspension. We also expect to see much better brakes and probably new shock absorbers. These changes should significantly improve overall handling and performance of Ford Edge SUV 2019. Upcoming Edge was first spotted during road testing, but it was wearing high amount of camouflage. Front fascia looks like it will feature slimmer redesigned headlights, as well as revised grille. Speaking of interior design, it would not be a surprise that new 2019 Edge gets completely new design. It could get some design solutions from new Focus and Fiesta models. All this is yet to be confirmed by the company officials.
2019 Ford Edge engine and fuel economy specs
2019 Ford Edge engine should remain old 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged unit. Power output for this Ford engine is set at 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. Top of the range Ford Edge should be powered by 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. This V6 powertrain is capable of producing 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Ford will probably introduce new 3.3-liter engine, which will replace old 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine. In addition, Ford will install new 9-speed transmissions instead of old 6-speed automatic gearbox. 2019 Ford Edge fuel economy specs are still unavailable at the moment.
